Well the last couple of days I couldn't write in my journal because last Friday we were installing Wep2py using terminal and that took most of the end of the period, and yesterday I wasn't here I was taking the NOVA replacement test, but today I was in class and I learned new commands for example "cat" means to see inside of whatever file I open, "vim" would actually let me edit the file I had choose and to move around instead of using the mouse you use the command keys which "h" means left "j" means down "k"  means up and "l" means right.

  1. Keep in mind that vim is an entirely new area of study, not directly related to Unix commands. The reason you came upon it is that all versions of Unix come with a version of the vi text editor (that's what vim is), so learning to use vi (vim) is a good skill to have if you want to say you know unix.

I just picked up some really cool 20 year old computers. They are called NeXT workstations (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NeXT), and they originally cost about $10,000 each. They run a version of Unix, so it might be fun to get them setup and let you have a chance to work on them.
